Has anybody had a car accident in a volkswagen jetta and had a problem with the seat, just in general?

Question:
my boyfriend was in a car accident last week. the person he was on the car with had a machanic go over the car and found that when the air begs deployed the seats didnt recline liek they were supposed to, also that the drivers seat and my boyfreinds seat moved forward a couple of notches causing my boyfrind to break both his legs... well in order to get an idea of whether or not we can sue we need to know if it has happened beofre to anyone else. noones names will be asked or anything just ur statements will be used in private with our lawyer...... please reply thank you:)

Hmmm. I don't know if this is related or anything, or if you can use it since it wasn't in the US. I had an '88 Jetta, from Germany. Once I hit the breaks pretty hard and my seat went flying back. I pulled up against the steering wheel but it freaked me out and I almost had an accident. The car was used and...well, this was in 1996.
