Is there a threaded hole in the bottom of your recorder for a tripod hookup? Set the camera on the tripod and secure it the the passenger seat with just enough zoom to get the dash and windshield out of the picture. Should work fairly well with little shaking if you can secure it well enough. Some tripods have adjustable legs so you could maybe put one or two of the "feet" on the floorboards for more stability. Also available are window mounts for spotting scopes at sporting goods stores. The threaded connections should be the same for the camera and scope. Take your camera with you to either a GOOD camera shop or sporting goods store.
