Question:
I have read 20 lbs, 30 lbs, 8 months, 10 months 12 months. I can't seem to get a good solid answer for this. My 9 month old is getting close to being to long for rear facing but she is only 20 lbs. What do you think? Or what did you do?
Answers:
20 lbs, and one year. Pediatricians think the neck can't hold its own weight until one year, so they recommend both weight and age.
I had to turn my son around a little earlier because of the rental car we had. His seat didn't fit in correctly and he was eating his knees facing backward.
What is considered a safe driving record?
20 lbs and age is a good way to gauge. However, what I would do is have you doctor check your child's neck strength and get his ok. Some childrens' neck's don't strengthen as fast as others. They usually lay the child flat on their back and then pull them up with the child's arms. They watch the child tense the neck muscles. Be very careful with this one. A fellow officer of mine investigated a situation in which a baby that could not hold up its head and suffocated and died in transit.More Questions & Answers ...
