Question:
In the Uk its now law that children under a certain hight must be in a booster seat but i cant fit 3 in the car for my 3 kids.
Am i right in thinking that if the 3rd child is in the middle and has a seat belt on they do not by law need to be in a booster seat?
I may be wrong so any advise would be of great help please.

The US now has a law like that. I was told by a cop I had to keep my boys in a booster until they were 8. I have been stopped with them only in seatbelts and it was never even mentioned. I think most "officials" are ok with just seatbelts for children over 5 or 6.How many states have laws against leaving children unattended in cars?

The uk law states that car seats should be used as and where possible. Unexpected journeys with kids in the car are not enforceable, so if you get pulled up just say you were expecting to pick up 2 kids but there were 3 and you couldn't leave them outside on their own. Nothing they can do, this rule is there to protect cab drivers and it's also a loop hole to use and abuse. That said however, get a three seater back seat as it's there for your kids safety.i m a new driver,how can i drive confidently when i m alone?
I think as long as there legs bend over the seat, and the seat belt doesn't choke them they should be able to ride with out a booster seat. But you childs safety is very important!in tachograph speed of the lorry at 11:15hr?
My experience is that unless you have a true full sized vehicle, like the crown vic, of a full sized truck like an F150, or a full sized Tahoe, you'll never be able to fit 3 booster seats. They just don't make the average car that wide.Even cars that claim to be able to sit 5 passengers really only have enough room for 4.5 passengers, but that rounds up to 5.

I have known folks to go to cabinet and furniture makers, custom upolestry makers to have custom boosters made just for their back seats. for instance, the two outsides are regular store bought boosters, and the middle is custom made to fit between the two. Might be something to look into by visiting your local custom upolstry shop.

No. The law is the law and if all children are under the height limit then all 3 need to be in the seat. As it is difficult to get 3 seats to fit it can be done with playing a little tetris and you might have to get a few different types of booster seats for it work. I have a small car and when I had to fit 3 seats I had to get 2 different makes. One was a full booster with the high back like another seat and the other 2 were the half seat kind. The full type had to go in the middle and the 2 half types went on either side of that.Would their be safer drivers if they replaced the airbag with a dagger?
I'm having this problem as well!!I rang up the department of transport and the only wasy around it is if the middle belt is not a lap belt which in a crash can sever a childs legs so you have to go to a fitters and get a proper belt fitted from the roof to go over the childs shoulders just like the 2 side belts. It's a right pain but the fact that the law is there means the subject was researched and they seem to know the best option is no lap belts for kids. My 19 year okd cousin who is about 5 foot 7 was recently in a crash his legs and inner organs were severed by a lap belt so my advice is get the proper belt fitted and buy 3 small booster seats that will all fit you can have them all fitted properly at specific garages. I'd personally look for a bigger car as if you are a family of 5 (there are 6 of us) them you can't possible get all your stuff in there too !

I went on a web site to find out about the rules ages ago if you cant fit three seats then they have to be strapped in with a belt, however it could be said the child could be in the front of car in a child seat. However if you are just giving someone a lift becuase of rain or you have to pick your friends child up ie thier running late etc you can just strap them in. taxis dont have the same problem as they would have to carry so many different tpyes of car seats. Do a search car child seat law think thats what i tryed to get the full rules.More Questions & Answers ...
