Tech Tips: During cranking, a circuit inside the TR sensor sends a 12v crank signal to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). The GEM is the body control computer that runs every thing on the body. Since accessories draw current, the GEM is designed to shut them off during cranking conditions. When the TR sensor shorts, it sends this crank signal to the GEM at the wrong time, shutting the accessories off.

When in a blow out, what should you do first?
a fuse wouldnt do this you have a bad relayCan Onstar be installed in any car?
All of these are on different fuses and relays. Your problem is a short but where it is can be tough. I had a ford in which the ignition switch melted causing all of the above plus the wipers to quit. It never blew a fuse or relay or even a fusible link. It did however kick of the circuit breaker which is what led me to follow the wires to to the ignition switch. While all of these systems are separate from th fuse block on they might be fed by a common hot wire up to the fuse block. Before you start trying to fit under the dash check the fusible links under the hood. You can get the wiring diagram from alldata.com for a fee and if you are doing it yourself it may be worth the cost. Some public libraries have books with wiring diagrams in the reference sections so they may be worth a call. Best of luck.More Questions & Answers ...
