Are you a person who always wears a seat belt no matter how long the journey?
Customer Concern: Vehicle loses some of it's accessories when shifting into reverse. Radio, power windows, turn signals and blower motor all go off in reverse.Tests/Procedures: 1. Get the vehicle to act up and go to the Transmission Range (TR) sensor, (park/neutral switch) and unplug it. If the radio volume comes back, look for signs of water damage or corrosion. Replace the sensor/plug as needed.
Potential Causes: Shorted TR sensor
Harness problems
Bad Generic Electronic Module (GEM)
What exactly does it mean at the gas station when they say "do not top off"?
** Confirmed Fix **
Replaced shorted TR sensor
Tech Tips: During cranking, a circuit inside the TR sensor sends a 12v crank signal to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). The GEM is the body control computer that runs every thing on the body. Since accessories draw current, the GEM is designed to shut them off during cranking conditions. When the TR sensor shorts, it sends this crank signal to the GEM at the wrong time, shutting the accessories off.
