i was told that if you follow behind a tractor trailer close enough that the turbulence will pull you along

Watched a programme ref young drivers?
It's possible, as there is a sort of vacuum back there, and no wind would be hitting your windshield, but who would be stupid enough to try it? They would soon be dead. What does "Aggressive Driver Imaging in Use" mean?
if your car is small enough, it's possible, but very dangerous as you will have practically no time to hit the breaks before you hit the truck if it breaks suddenlyWhat is your comment/reaction about H.I.D Ion headlight bulbs?
It's called drafting. VERY unsafe, usually it's just race cars that do it. I don't think that a trailer has enough speed to do it.it's called drafting and no it can't "pull" you along. RAcers do it to give their engine a break and not have to work so hard but still remain at the same speed. You still have to have your foot on the pedal.
I want to conduct safety quiz at my factory. Where can I get Q&A (quiz) on Industrial safety?
well, you still have to push on your gas pedal to get anywhere but i was told that years ago from my dad. That effect only works at extreme speeds like in a NASCAR race. There would be little if any effect at normal highway speeds, not to mention it is extremely dangerous. In the time it takes you to realize the brakes on the tractor trailer are on you will have already crashed into it.
Has anyone ever been in a bad car accident?
It is true in some cases that the vaccume created by the wake of the truck and trailer(at certain speeds) can help your vehicle by decreasing the wind resistance,,but it would be crazy to do it,,because you would have to be within the wake,,which is in and around seven feet from the rear of the box trailer.you would have to be so close that if the trucker slammed his brakes on,,you would have no chance to react.
you can gain some "drag" but it will not pull you along. you still need your own momentum.
Which is more accurate, the speed on my sat nav or on the car speedometer?
You will not be completely pulled by "drafting a tractor trailor" but your wind resistance will be dimished significantly. You can really get great gas mileage by doing this. To do this you need to be real close to the trailer and I mean close. Almost as close as nascar racers get to each other. If you do this you will notice that your RPM's needed to keep up to your given speed will drop alot. Like a normal car in fifth gear at 70mph will be at around 4000rpms while drafting a semi it will be around 2000rpm. It does work but is very risky and if a cop see's it will pull you over for sure.Does any one know this Haz 11 or 12 question?
If you are close enough to be "drafting" --- you are certainly close enough to DIE !No! according to state of "California you may only tow one
Additional Vehicle that's an Boat on trailer also must give yelid
to on comming traffic plus use two outside veiwing Mirrors so
you'd could check for clearances bothsides"
