Question:
What I never understood is that in the UK everyone thinks driving fast was dangerous so that there is a really slow speed limit of 110.
At the same time everyone is crossing red traffic lights as a pedestrian and this is where most accidents happen: in town centers with pedestrian involved.
Cross-walks at traffic lights - pedestrians that just go on green?
I also think 110 is too fast for country lanes but too slow for motorways.
I am used to driving more then twice the speed limit of he UK (220-250 km/h) in Germany and most I dont know anyone who never drove 180 or faster - and to me it feels a lot safer then driving with 110 on certain country lanes in the UK or with 60-70 through town centers.
Where is there a traffic school?
I think the number of death tolls in the UK would decrease if crossing red lights as a pedestrian would be penalized - even if the speed limit on motorways would be increased to 150 mph.
how much does it cost if you break the rules of the road?
The speed itself is not dangerous...it is unsafe driving such as keeping no safety distance. More difficult drivng tests and motorway lessons would be better.
Answers:
You have some good points in there, and your right, speed isn't as dangerous as bad drivers, and their are loads of them around.
How many cars are run over by pedestrians? Pedestrians were here first and need to be protected by the law.
100 Percent behind you on that one.
GO BACK TO GERMANY
Does it fall up under the lemon law if purchased as-is?
if everyone obeyed the rules there would be no accidents, but i back you up on the speed limits part.in what proportion of fatal cycling accidents was the casualty not wearing a helmet?
I agree with you, speed does not kill- lack of concentration kills! The government want to change the speed limit on motorways to 80mph to keep crime statistics down, however they are stopped by pressure groups of whom many want country lanes ( national speed limit ) to be reduced from 60mph to 50mph.Cleaning brake dust from white wall tires?
i dont get it driving fast is illegal and crossin red lights is what?i think the motorwyas should be increased to 80mph and roads 40 pmh cos thsoe are the speed most drive at anyway. and with the 10% speed allowance the police give you that means on roads tyou can get away doing 44mph and motorways 88mph.
i have driven in italy and on their motorways they ahve 3 lanes
“It is important to wear suitable shoes when you are driving. Why is this?
1 lane has a speed limit of 70mph
2 lane if for over taking and has a limit of 90mph
3 lane has no speed limit - watch out if you are not going fast enough the italians tailgate you until you move even if you are doing 120mph!
and one more thing - arent pedestrians supposed to cross when the cars are stopped at a red light? going thru red lights is illegal and very dangerous.
How the hell can they monitor such a rule if it ever came into place? What, you would have policemen standing on every set of traffic lights would you? Stopping and fining every citizen crossing at a red?
my directional signals are acting funny?
It is far easier for the authorities to keep track on speeding vehicles than wayward pedestrians. For one, cars are restricted to the roads. You cannot restrict humans in the same way - if they want to cross the road, they will.
Which is safer riding in a automobile or the Space Shuttle?
Your idea is totally impractical.
It's far easier to limit the vehicles...
I think it's fair to say that the higher the speed, the greater the risk of accident... on any road.
i agree with you.
most road deaths are not on motorways but towns, we don;t have any laws stopping people crossing the road whenever it suits them so they really put themselves in danger.
Why do people drive so close to the car in front and also have such bright and blinding headlights.?
We also have NO motorway driving on our driving test, your pretty much just left to figure out how to drive on motorways yourself once you passed the test. I expect a lot of motorway accidents are because of this.
Also i often find on most motorways near me that nobody atall keeps what would be a safe distance between eachother.
also many country roads i drive down are allowed 60mph but this is obviously too fast when you look at the road condition and bends it has.
Does putting your car in free gear reduce control during braking?
For one pedestrians i think have the right of road, your supposed to give way to them no matter what and 2 speeding is just as dangerous, i've seen some hellish corpses in my time from RTA's caused by speeding.More Questions & Answers ...
