If it's possible to wait for daylight, do that. Even if it is icy, you stand a better chance of seeing the ice during the day, AND, if area temperatures are warm enough, ice that formed overnight may be gone the next day.

How safe is LPG powered cars?

If you can postpone the trip entirely, do it. If you're not comfortable or familiar with driving in icy weather, stay off the roads. You don't want to be the inspiration for an ABC miniseries or Lifetime Movie of the Week.

Hi i just wondered if anyone new what the standard punishment was for driving uninsured thanks.?

Take it easy. Stay in the far right lane when possible, and go about 15 mph slower than you think you should, ESPECIALLY through mountains/foothills. Always allow yourself an out...leave plenty of room between you and all cars around you. NO SUDDEN STARTS, STOPS, or TURNS. Make sure any children are either left with responsible friends/family or thoroughly wrapped in breathable bubble wrap (OK, I'm joking about that). But please, if you don't have to put kids in danger, DON'T.

My son's partner is teaching my son to drive.?

Snow tires are recommended for ice and snow but if you're leaving shortly, then that isn't a solution. If you have all season tires on your vehicle, you should be alright. I drive in Canada all winter long with just all seasons and I have never had a problem. I've been driving for over 50 years. Just take it slow when you encounter inclement weather. Make sure your wipers are working good and you have lots of wind shield washer fluid for winter driving. Good luck and drive safely!

Is it OK to just put the overdrive in an "ON" position no matter what the driving condition is?

Do you mean from Atlanta GEORGIA?! I hope there's another Atlanta. That's crazy. I love it! I don't know what you mean by snow guards, I use tire chains. You can get them on the way if you need them, but you have to limit your speed to about 40. They do keep you going, though. Pack a shovel (not a tiny sand castle shovel, either) and get some anti-skid grit along the way. It's sold in bags, a fine gravel mixed with salt. Anything like that will help. Old carpet for under the tires if you get stuck. Expanded metal is even better. People tell you to use cat litter, but that stinks. It gets really slick when it's wet. Take a roll of paper towels to clean lights and windows, and a jug of windshield washer fluid. If you have sleeping bags, pack them just in case.

New jersey state law for vehicles without doors?

Is it safe? Well that depends on how you drive. If one of your drivers grew up driving in "snow country", let them drive the tough stuff. This would be a lousy place to learn your first time.

Should we make it harder to get a drivers liscence?

But be careful... I-75 is a surprisingly tough mountain crossing when the weather comes down on you. (and I've crossed the Rockies and Sierra many times, in blizzards, in a Camaro.) They'll close the freeway and leave you trapped for a day or two.

When can you stop at a box junction?

You might consider another route, like via Virginia. Longer, but it might be longer anyway if you get trapped in the moutain, or have an accident.

I got flashed by a speed camera!!!!!?

I suggest packing emergency supplies including NON-COTTON clothing and underwear... in the cold wilderness, wet cotton clothing = death. And no matter what you do, don't leave the main highways people expect you to travel.

Could it possible to stop a vehicle braking from out side?

Don't take I-75 straight through. As the previous poster indicates, the I-75 mountain passes are nothing to sneeze at in winter weather, but DO NOT head through Virginia - I-77 is a whole order of magnitude more perilous. You may want to consider I-75 to I-24 to Nashville, then I-65 to Louisville & I-71 to Cincinnati.
