U.K laws on blocking roads?

Question:
Hi, I been living in my street now for about 26 years and recently builders have moved in to my street to do building work, they block my street so cars can’t pass, is that against the law?, also a elderly neighbour collapsed in her house at the bottom of my street and emergence services could not get through because of them builders. It took them 10 minutes to move there vans.

Its really getting to me! this have been going on for about 6 months, they can very easily park a little up so people can get there cars passed if you try and talk to them they just don’t want to know, they also not the most intelligent bunch of people you ever seen most the time they pick there a**es and talk funny in grunts and growns , do anyone know a good site about laws in the UK and my rights, it would be very appreciated thanks :-).

Contact Citizens Advice and see what they can do, Phone the police and tell them you think something really bad is happening down the road, they'll have to respond and move the builders vans, or just report them yourself.dunno really good luck

The council will be more than interested in the fact that emergency vehicles cannot pass as they could be held accountable if someone could not be reached by Fire or Ambulance Service and was severly injured/killed!

Contact your local council office and they will put you in touch with the right department, who will advise you on the rules. This it turn will be displayed on lamp posts at each end of the affected area. If they are breaking the law, they will get a hefty fine.

Can you operate a vehicle in Canada with an exposed engine without being fined/charged?

It is an offence to prevent passage to and fro along the public highway. The simplest thing is to call out the police and ask them to move the builders on. Keep doing it if it keeps happening. If the day to day plods are unhappy about helping, go to your local station and ask to speak to the Superintendent. Take photographs, try and get the local paper interested - the story about the elderly neighbour and the emergency services would be great for them. Also might be worth trying to find out who the builders are working for and getting a deputation of neighbours up to speak with them.

Should Motorway driving be part of the standard driving test and why?

are they actually blocking the road or just making it very hard to access it,there is a diffewrence,if they are blocking it then ask to speak to the site foreman who will or should speak to the workers and stop it from happening,be calm and dont let him think you are being picky, just tell him your problem and inform him you do not want any problems with the builders just access to be kept clear, make a note of his name etc and the registrations of the offending vehicles as well,if this does not resolve the matter then give the details to the police, who will especially as you have already tried yourself resolve the matter,it is definitely an offence to block the road.
