Question:
One day it was cold and i wanted to get the ice off of my windshield and back window. So after chipping some ice that would come off, i got the majority of the rest off my windshield and windows by pouring hot water on them and it came right off. Some people claim this is a safety hazard. Is it helpful or harmful to do this?
Answers:
What are effects of speeding and underage driving?
Cold water would have a similar effect. I don't think that hot water would crack the glass be cause it is tempered but try cold water first then warm.Try to wipe away any excess water to eliminate ice.
What are three types of vehicle repair organisations?
You stand a very good chance of shattering your glass. That is definitely a hazard.Doing this in the cold will eventually caudse your windshield to crack. Glass when going from extreme cold to really hot very quickly expands. this expansion and subsepuent contraction when it gets cold again weakens the glass. I wouldnt do this too much anymore. Its not so much a saftety hazard as it is a monetary one. Windshields are expensive. I dont think that your windshield is going to come flying into the car while you are doing 75.
YES IT MIGHT CRACK oh my gosh
Is it legal to pass a car on a one way street with only one lane?
it may be if it was too cold the intense heat could shatter your glass from the switch of temperatures if it was to cold it could also freeze with the other iceWhy do you people in cars pullout in front of tractor-trailers that are hauling 80,000 pounds?
Of course, it's a cracking/shattering hazard...invest in an inexpensive de-icer...comes in a can you spray on the windshield.More Questions & Answers ...
