I am moving and dont have much to take, but I need to get my jeep, dog, and some items back to Ohio from California. Does anyone know if I rent an SUV if I can tow my jeep behind it? I dont want to drive the jeep because its a little bit older and dont trust it to go that far of a distance. Thanks.

First you will need to install a tow bar and lights to your jeep if you don't have any yet, then be sure to rent an SUV with a tow package. (just a thought) I know that some vehicles require the drive shaft be removed for towing. others require towing by a car dolly and others can be towed on all 4's. Most regular rental car companies won't let you tow. You could rent either a pickup or small moving truck from U-haul, and they can tow. With a Wrangler, you can tow it with just a tow bar if you have a transfer case that goes into neutral. The first two options should be restricted to a Jeep with a manual transmission - put both the gearbox and transfer case into Neutral, unlock the front hubs if you have them, and tow your Jeep.
