Would like to add a bench seat to box of truck. Is it legal in Canada?

I have a single cab pickup truck. I have a bench seat that is in good condition. I have all new seat belt hardware and was wondering the legalities in adding a seat to the box of my truck. I have been told as long as inspected by a mechanic it is legal but I want to make sure before hand. I have a box cap on my truck already.
