why do people compare street racing to the fast and the furious?
A two-car accident on the west Beltline at Gammon Road injured two people and closed westbound traffic for five hours Friday night.
Madison police said in a news release that a father and his two children in an SUV were stopped in traffic near the intersection when they were rear-ended by a pickup truck. The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m.
The father and his 5-year-old son were injured, police said. The father was taken by ambulance to a local hospital while his son was taken by helicopter. The 11-year-old daughter was not injured.
Neither the driver nor the passengers in the pickup truck were injured, police said.
The accident forced the closure of westbound traffic on the highway between Gammon Road and Mineral Point Road from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m., as police investigated the accident. The eastbound traffic was shut down for about 20 minutes to accommodate the Med Flight helicopter.
The names of those injured and others involved in the accident were not immediately available.
