But if you are complaining that cars are all being built with fiberglass body panels, or plastic body panels now, you are wrong. Sure, Saturn tried it, and a few other cheap cars did too (plastic). Fiberglass body panels are typically only used on sports cars, and it's not because it's cheap, it's because it is light. Corvettes have been using fiberglass hoods since I was a little kid. So that's nothing new.
The only material I've seen being applied to average passenger car bodies is aluminum. This is being used in hoods, fenders, and decklids. It's not typically used in the body structure, just in bolt on pieces (with the exception of more expensive cars, Audi A8 comes to mind).
assistance with getting a car seat?
II can understand what you are saying, but what you are not considering here is why.The goverment has mandated that all new cars get better gas miliage and the car makers are trying to figer out HOW.
One way is to make the car lighter. All sheet metal bodys are very heavy. So to make it get better milage there are things the car makers have come up with. All of the cars can't move all that wight so thy started with the body. Make it out of a lighter body panels and in the long run make it easer to replace.
how do i find out the distance to place the cones to practice my driving test?
Most body panels are plastic and when it come time to replace it all you do is replace the hole panel..
To fix the old one you had to body fill it and paint it and again it was to heavy.
Being gas keeps going up and we pay for it, the car companys had to come up with a better idea.
Actually you didn't ask a question, but instead are on a "Ain't it terrible" rant and looking for others to agree with you. You seem to blame the car manufactures for this problem, but that's not where the blame belongs.
when you cross the border into Cali, and your car is checked, will they bust you on expired tags?
Put it where it does belong, on the tree huggers that are crying about pollution and passing laws that vehicles have to get better fuel mileage.
Help please, the turbo boost button on my car is broken?
How do you get better mileage? Less weight. How do you get less weight? Fiberglass. That and aerodynamics so all cars now look the same...
Modern materials are used in modern cars. They look cheap, but it is expensive to buy and replace.
