Question:
If a ball joint breaks on a car while it is turning into a parking space can it throw the car out of control and/or cause one or more brakes to lock up? Even if the tire does not fall off ? Will greasy or oily substance be thrown over the front of the car and on the tire opposite the one with the broken ball joint?
Answers:
what do you think should all cars and trucks have governors?
yes the car will be out of control the brakes will lock (tire pin to frame ) As for the oily stuff if its a front wheel drive and the axle pulls out of the trans fluid will come out , but I find it hard to believe it will be thrown anyway. Is it illegal for a blind individual to drive?
if the ball joint breaks it will make you loose control an could kill you or someone else. Can you turn right on a red light in Georgia?
Yes, a broken ball joint can cause a lock up and loss of control BUT how fast would you be pulling into a parking spot anyway? Even at a slow speed it could be a problem and cause a fender bender. You would know there is a problem right away. You would not want to experience this at highway speeds.NO, it will not sling fluid on the front end and not get it on the opposite tire and wheel.
UNLESS it severs a brake line while under braking pressure.
Then it MIGHT saturate the underside of the front of the car.
Your question states "over the the front of the car". I guess that's possible, but I could not fathom how.
I would be skeptical of this at the least.
