Question:
I flipped a garbage truck in bad weather on its side. making a left hand turn. I maintain I was not speeding and that the rear end slide out from under me. Truck lands on its side on moist pavement and slides an additional 15-20 feet. There has to be a formula to compute speed. I was cited for failure to maintain safe speed to avoid accident.

Why did the orange stop in the middle of the road?
There are too many variables to be able to calculate your speed. I could tell you if you know the coefficient of kenetic friction between the side of the truck and the road, but that would change with road conditions. What s the point having a new car,if you can t drive it ?
Either way it doesn't matter as you weren't cited for speeding, but failing to maintain a safe speed. There is a difference.

to many other variables not given to answer correctly but if the back end slid more then the front you were speeding or making to tight a turn both of which would cause the same reaction on a slick road I flipped my suv going 25 in a 40 by making a extreme tight turn on a wet road and the cop said I was speeding but my speedometer proved I wasn't when I clicked the button it showed 25mphMore Questions & Answers ...
