They should be subjected to the same background checks as american and canadian drivers. They should be subjected to the same drug testing as american and canadian drivers. From my experiences in driving to Laredo and El Paso, I can tell you that their drivers and their vehicles do not meet the safety standards. One thing that always bugged me was when I hooked to a trailer to bring back to our yard that had been into Mexico, there were always bits and pieces missing... light covers... bulbs... air line seals... etc. It's like they maintain their own equipment by stealing parts from american and canadian trailers. Gee... what a way to operate !

Mexican drivers bring the trailer to a border lot. American drivers pick up the trailer from there and deliver it to the final US destination. Mexican drivers don't come into the US.

no, they have no business running their poorly maintained trucks in our country where there will be a lot more people killed because of the junk trucks they use and drivers who are not qualified to drive trucks, just another great way to smuggle in drugs, terrorists, and illegal aliens. Does it really matter what a driver's country of origin is if they follow the rules?
