How to remove Golf cart Governing system?

How would i go about removing the governing system from a golf cart. Will this be part of what is needed to make one street legal.

if you have a electric over gas ez-go gulfcart like i do.... i will tell tou right now that i spent hours trying to remove this spinning thing and make it go faster. i have come to the conclusoin that there is no way to take it off without the thing not running right. what i did find out is that you could replace it with a governer from a different year gulf cart. Good luck.

golf carts aren't all street legal with just a governer to stop them from becoming legal, you need to take it to the DOT in your area and register it before anything, and if it's stolen then there's no help for you here.
