Right of way question?

Question:
Recently, I was at an awkward intersection. The east/west street is normal. The north/south has a weird fork. One of those streets is set back a little bit. So at first glance, the street looks like a 4-way intersection. My impression is that that 5th stop sign was far enough back that the safest thing to do is advance to the 4th stop sign, then wait your turn. Technically, you can't really see that 5th stop well if you are heading east unless you start to turn. I almost got plowed by a mean man in a van who saw me turning, and he sped up, BLEW his horn at me and PASSED me. Scared me. Obviously, I will always be very careful at that intersection now--since it's the route I use to take my daughter to school...but just wanted some opinions. What do you guys think? Is this a 5-way intersection? Everyone gets a turn?

Why can't gas tanks all be put on the same side?

Sounds like the intersection next to White's Park in Concord. One sign is so far back from the intersection you can't tell it's there if headed West. When you pull up to this sign, it's hard to tell what you should do. Do I pull up and swerve right to hit the other stop sign, or do I pull out into the intersection?
People have been complaining about it for a long time, but the city has not been able to come up with anything that will make everyone happy. Arguments about who has the right of way have always turned into arguments there, even when it was clear who should have it. All I can say is be as cautious as you can. Possibly find a different route?

OK, so I'm in a car. Beside me on my right going the same speed as me is a fire truck?

just do the best you can, there are lots of idiots out there, dont take it personally

If one of your low-profile tyres burst, does putting on a normal rim & tyre affect the safety of driving?

You should have obeyed the sign they are there for reasons of safety and not for you to make any decision except what it says and that one saud stop and stop it is until totally safe to move off .Approach you local authority re the signage and ask them to review what is happening at that imtersection
