How high does a bridge over a road in the uk need to be?

Question:
I am doing a project where I must design a footbridge over a road on a university course (civil engineering). Obviosuly I could work out what the tallest vehichles are in the uk, and build my bridge tall enough to accomodate them. But does can anyone point me towards some legislation etc, which will tell me what the minmum height of my bridge must be by law. Any help in this area would be much appreciated. Cheers. Jonny

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's about 14.5 ft

If I haul 2 cars on a private open trailer to Fla, do I need to stop at any weigh stations on the way down?

i don't think there is a legal height but most hgv are about 14ft.but then i know one that is only 8ft.as long as your bridge is clearly marked i think you will be OK.
