Your opinion on driving age?

Question:
Do you think we should change the driving age to 21 and let kids start drinking at 16? Maybe by the time they turn 21 they'll have gotten over the "cool" factor of drinking. Thouhgts?

Most of Europe has avoided a problem with drunk driving. The U.S. should look to Europe for solutions.

In Europe, you typically see a couple of things done differently than here:

Following a car accident, should you remove a child from their car seat or leave them until help arrives?

1. Zero tolerance. In Sweden (and perhaps other countries), you don't drink and drive. Not a drop. This is also the rule for flying an airplane in the U.S. Seems like a good rule for driving, too.

I don't understand what this means?

2. They don't mysticise alcohol. Wine is typically served at meals and consumed by teens (in moderation). Legal drinking age in Germany is (I believe) 15 or 16.

I have a 10 pound fire extinguisher, how can I find out the A.B.C. rating?

Raising the age for either is not the solution. Fixing the problem more directly is the solution.

driving exercises?

I think 21 is good but as we get older our motor skills weaken and begin drying out so ban older adults over 70 to stop driving. Also, ban alcohol and u wont have so many deathful incidents DUI's and etc. 16 is an immature age to be driving

can i fit an extra seat belt in the rear of my omega to accomodate 4 children under 12?

i defintly think that we should raise the driving age. i remember at 16 i was not mature enough to drive, people fail to rememeber driving is a privlidge, not a right.

Should domestic animals be taught to use crosswalks to avoid getting run over?

How is that going to work.. Kids would be stuck living with there parents until they turned 21 because they couldnt drive. They cant get a job, drive themself to college. But oh yeah... they could get drunk!! I dont think it would be a good idea at all..

do you always have to shift into neutral when stopping or can you just hit the break?

Are you for real, I see adults 25+ that can't drive or drink responsibly.
I think 16 is OK for driving and the drinking age really doesn't matter until you can prevent minors from drinking 'cause it's cool. You have parents out there that throw parties for their kids friends, the parents stay upstairs and the kids drink. See those folks were never mature enough to have kids. so how do we regulate that!

Sounds like a good idea. They need to experience the alcohol anyway, so why not hold the driving till it`s experienced

My 17 y.o.son has had 2 speeding tickets in 2 months. What kind of legal consequences should he expect?

No don't put everyone in the same box. I have seen many mature 16 year olds and many inmature 21 year olds. Your driving record will be the best judge, maby we need stiffer fines for driving offenses.

Is it illegal for cars to obstruct crosswalks when the walk sign is on?

Leave drinking at 21 and driving at 16. If you are caught driving drunk before 21 you should never be given a chance to get your license again. One and done. If 21 or over then you should get a 10 year suspension on your license. No questions asked. For a second offense Lifetime ban. EVERYONE should be given a COMPLETE driving test every 7 years. My aunt drove till she was 96. Never had an accident. No tickets either. She went every 7 years just to make sure she could stil handle it and get a refresher on the rules of the road. If you test everyone with a license there is no discrimination.
