Turn signals do not work?

Question:
turn signals not working at all Old Delta 88, year 88

Answers:

how long does it take for an accident to come off your DAC?

Might be the flasher unit for the turn signals--they burn out the way light bulbs burn out. Hardest part will be finding the wretched thing in your car...try a Chilton's or Haynes manual to help locate it. It'll probably be a little aluminum gizmo about the size and shape of 6 or 7 quarters stacked together, with two or three electrical contact prongs sticking out of it. A new one will be just a few bucks in any auto parts store. Easy as changing a light bulb, once you find it.

A friend has a smart car, is she allowed to have a rear facing baby seat in the front or is it illegal?

its the switch. Check your fuse and you'll see that if there is power to the lights and the ground is good then your switch is bad.. the car is old and switches don't last forever. but check the gound first.

If it both, it is probably a fuse. check that first.

What do you think about the new law they are trying to pass re: NO smoking in a vehicle with a child in it?

first, check the fuses, if they are good, you will need to do some troubleshooting. Step on the brakes and see if the stop lights work. They are the same lamps used for turn signals. if they work, turn on the ignition and select the signal to left, see if the front light comes on. is it on and not blinking? Try the same with the right one. This will verify the bulbs are good. If any of the four (two front and 2 rear) do not light up, it may be bad bulbs, or dirty contacts. they need replacing or cleaning of the sockets. Try the 4-way emergency flashers. Do they work? That will also verify lamps working. Last, try a new turn flasher, or swap it with the emergency 4-way flasher. It is a little silver or gold colored tin can a little smaller than the size of a golfball. It should be under the dash, or close to the fuses. It is the thing that you can hear clicking when the signals are working properly. Last, but not the best, is maybe a burnt out lamp indicator in the dashboard, the little green pointer arrows, they are hard to get to. it would require the dashboard and speedometer to be dissassembled. good luck
