Question:
I in all of a tizzy because of the Hazard Perception Test. I don't understand how many times you are meant to click the mouse. Is it once when you see the hazard then, click again for when you would re-act?

What would you do if somebody followed your car ?
Excellent question for which there is no official guidance.I recently scored 70 out of a possible 75 for my lgv hazard perception.
When I first practised I would spot the hazard and press before the first of the 5 time frame windows were open and thus had zero score.
Seems silly seeing the developing hazards TOO early, but its their test.
Press as soon as you see the developing hazard or even on potential hazards because we arent sure what the examiners are looking for.
Then press again with short pauses as the hazard develops.
It is important not to repeatedly press in very short and regular succession as the computer will disqualify you.
But you are allowed to press as many times as you like and you will not recieve demerit.
The purpose of reclicking is to ensure that you are still taking points even if you have pressed too early or to late for the 5 point window. In other words you have nothing to lose by reclicking a few times on each presumed hazard but everything to gain.
To recap, press repeatedly on each hazard but not very fast and not in uniform repetition.
were should i be when i turn 23?
The parking in a bay , i never have done this on a car test , but if possible reverse from the right hand side applying right lock as this will give you maximum vision .Square the vehicle to the sides of the bay if possible before you enter so that there is less work once youre inside.
If you cant judge how far back you are , get your instructor to stick a small peg on the side of the car in such a place where it appears in the offside mirrior to line up with a painted line on the ground.
this is a method used in lgv tests and is infallible and within the regulalations
.and good luck!
I am learning to drive and was wanting to know what is the best way to improve my spacial awareness?
Being a trainee driving instructor and having to do the advanced perception test I know what you are going through. However, any situation that you spot that will cause you to either brake, or take avoiding action warrants a press on the button.
As the situation develops then press again.
do not get into the situation of keep pressing the button because the computer will consider that cheating.
Only press when you see a potential hazard, some of the clips have only one hazard in them and sometimes two or three.
As far as reverse parking is concerned, practise really is the key.
Just one more thing, the quality of the practice video clips are not as good as the real ones, they are the ones that have been rejected by the DSA. good luck hope this helps a little.
Bay Parking, you instructor should have told you this but, point your 2 side mirrors to the floor so that you can see the bay lines in your mirrors, same for reversing round corners, makes it a heck of a lot easier. If you don't have electric mirrors you are allowed to ask the examinter to alter your mirrors for you, just make sure you put them back in place before you drive off anywhere !!
