Does your state require State Inspection?

Question:
What state do you live in and do they require state inspection of your vehicle? If your state doesn't have it do you think they should and if your state does have it do you think they shouldn't? I'm just curious as to what people think? If it's a waste of time and money or if it is a good idea for safety reasons. I think every state should have it and I live in Pennsylvania.

How do you get the ice off your car w/o scraper?

im from texas and yes we have vehicle inspection. we also have that emissions testing included in vehicle inspection. yes i agree with it because cars should be proven safe before they are allowed on the streets. a lot of innocent people could be hurt if cars arent tested. the emissions testing is good also because it cuts back on the pollution since cars wont pass until the vehicles problem is fixed.and its helping us in the long run!

What is it with people not using their turn signals while driving?

In Maine you have to have yearly inspections. I think it's stupid for any car under 3 years old. They are also doing some weird new thing here now to prevent people from 'shopping around' to find someone who will pass their car. They remove half your sticker. I don't really get the point of that but Maine has notoriously high taxes anyway, what's one more? It's $12 a year here. I know Florida doesn't have the law. Which you can see by the 'Flintstone cars' some people drive around in down there :)

what is it with the Jesus fish on the back bumpers of some cars i see on the road?

I live in Texas and we do have them. I think they are a great idea. They keep lazy, irrisponsible people from causing accidents because they didn't get their gas leak fixed, or their bald tires replaced, or their horn fixed, or their mirrors replaced, etc ... You know a lot of people wouldn't do that if they weren't required to!

What is wrong with using Carlisle tires on travel trailers?

I live in New York State. Yearly inspection is required in our state and I think that is a good thing however, I do not agree with the inspection process. The inspections are done by auto repair shops who benefit by telling you that you need repairs that you actually don't need. There is a conflict of interest there. My husband worked for a place and they were told to fail breaks that were actually perfectly fine. They would replace people's breaks that really didn't need replacing and then they'd keep the old breaks and put them on their own vehicles or company vehicles. I think that the inspection should be done at a place that does not also do repairs so that they have nothing to gain by telling you that you need repairs that you really don't need.

have you been in a automobile accident before, me yes?

I live in Florida and it is not required to have you vechilce inspected. The only time i have heard of this is when someone lapses on their insurance and try to get new, then the new company makes you get it insepcted.

Why is it that when a motorist cuts you off, he/she flips you off when you honk your horn?

It's a money grab for the state. I've lived in New York where it's required annually. Some of the items checked are just ridiculous and cost more then what I would consider paying.
Now that I reside in Michigan, they tried for a few years to enforce a program based on exhaust produces. The problem was it pertained ONLY to three(3) counties. If the tested vehicle was less then ten(10) years in age, it had to be tested. If it failed, the owner was liable for repairs, unless said repairs would exceed the value of the vehicle.
Looking at some of the 'cars', if you can call them that, here should be junked.
People don't do preventative maintenance, as they should. If the windshield is broken, replace it, not here, just keep on driving until the wheels fall off.
If you think it's bad in PA, don't ever reside in Bermuda. The inspection there are every six month. If there is only a rot hole in a quarter panel, it falls. If the paint is primed and not a finished coat, it fails.
So there are good and bad in all. The key is to maintain your vehicle, find a 'trustworthy' mechanic and keep rolling.

Do you know?

Texas does require inspection. It generages money for the gov. It generates money for business. It lessens the number of broken down cars on the side fo the road. And it reduces emissions for cleaner air.

Are you the kind of person that is serious about Seat belt use?

NH has an annual safety inspection. All in all, the requirements aren't too bad. Helps keep some of the trash off the road. I've been through some states without inspections, and was surprised by what I saw on the road.
