Question:
If a cars listed with
FRONT & SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS,
DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER,
HEAD CURTAIN SIDE AIRBAGS,
FRONT/REAR
Would that mean the both the front and rear seats have the side curtain airbags?
Answers:
Almost crashed the car!! what happened here?
It really depends on the maker of the car. Side curtain airbags mean they cover most or all of the side windows. Side impact bags can either deploy from the pillar between the front and back doors or the side bolster of the seats. Since it says "head curtain side airbags, front/rear" that should mean that it will protect front and rear passengers. Check out information on the vehicle at Edmunds.com, MSN Autos, and NHTSA's website (there are others, but that is a good start). When driving a vehicle in California, will you get a ticket for a passenger not wearing a seatbelt?
OK front and side airbags are more for the head areas, and then the curtain side is for when you are being thrown forward to stop you without any damage to your head. Or in a van it is the main airbag for the back bench seating areas in some models. Usually the side curtain airbags are in the rear seats to stop the passengers from traveling forward to the front seats or windshield, usually.More Questions & Answers ...
