Do you think that after this fatal school bus crash in Alabama,...?

Question:
they will make it mandatory for school trasportation to have seatbelts and other safety devices. I believe it's about time, even if it costs us more tax dollars. What is your opinion?

Answers:

Please help me.....?

yeah. i live in bham and its all over the news here. School buses should be equipped with seatbelts. I know i would be mad if my child died because of no safety. It could have been much worse but since its a high school a lot of students ride a car

High visiblitiy (relfective) jackets laws?

I think it's a good idea too. Here in NC the kindergarten school buses are required to have the seat belts. Those kids are just as important as regular school age kids. It's something the laws makers need to put on the agenda to vote on.

What is the typical life span, i.e. miles one can get out of a recapped tire?

This mornings incident really doesn't support your position. First, it was a "freak" accident that is not comparable to the average situation. Secondly, the limited number of fatalities in a bus that was involved in 2 collisions (the guardrail and the pavement after a fall of a considerable distance) indicates that seat belts probably would have had little, if any, impact on the outcome.

can i drive u-haul with a class c?

Seat belts are not miracle devices that provide a guarantee against injury or death. They often cause or exacerbate injuries and can hinder rescue and emergency medical efforts, particularly in multiple victim situations.

what is the new laws for cell phone usage while driving?

Well considering I live in HSV and saw the wreck, I would say yes. However I have to agree with the person saying no to the seatbelts! It would cost quite a bit to put safety belts on every school systems buses in the US. It is a terrible tragedy that happened, but it was "Freak", and probably would not constitute intalling them. However I will say that something does need to be done to increase the safety on school buses!

how old do you have to be to sit in the front of the car which has an air bag on the passenger side?

on long island ny we have seat belts but i think just the little kids have to wear them. no high school kids i know wear them

Side collision?

No. The primary reason that seatbelts are not mandatory in many areas is that one of the main safety risks in any bus accident is the risk of fire or smoke inhalation, and also that buses are structurally thin an will crumple in the event of an accident. The logic behind not requiring seatbelts is that, in the event of any sort of accident, small children may not be able to quickly free themselves from seatbelts, especially if they are injured or panicked.

Now see yet another school bus crash!?

In the case of this Alabama accident, seatbelt would not have made much of a difference for passengers inside of a big bus plummeting 30 feet headfirst off of an overpass. Most likely, students wearing seatbelts would have snapped their necks or backs upon impact. As it was, the three girls who died, and the kids who were injured the most severely, were sitting in the front of the bus, which was crushed when it hit the ground.
