alot of accidents today are caused by teens, in the carelessness of them showing off for friends. So maybe the solution is not allowing them to get their liscense till they are 18?
Teens dont seem to be mature enough to understand the responsibilities that come with driving. It is not a right but a privledge and kids dont see it that way, nor do they take it seriously. To them it is seen as something fun to do kind of like sex and drugs is to them. So should the age limit be change to 18? I think so, because I believe it would prevent alot of future deaths of innocent people.

All new drivers are going to be unsafe. If you let people learn to drive at 16 under the supervision of their parents I think they learn in a safer environment than waiting until they are 18 and are less likely to have a qualified adult to supervise them.In CA 16 year olds have a special license that does not allow them to drive with anyone in the vehicle under a certain age (21 or 25, I think) so they can't drive with their friends. They are also restricted to certain hours during the day. I think these restrictions make safer drives than giving an 18 year old an unrestricted license to learn to drive.

Absolutely. Should consider raising it to 21. Some teens are responsible, but the immaturity at that age for most of them make it dangerous. I just don't think a high school drivers ed course prepares them for it.Can I drive on the freeway with a donut tire?
I half agree with you, maturity level is not always there. But in cases where the teen has had to buy thier own vehicle and everything to go with it, with thier own earned money, they tend to have more respect for the car and what driving is. I bought my own car, it was a 1987 Plymouth Caravelle. I paid $900 for it, and in my area, every parent goes out and buys little Johnny an Audi, or a Volvo or a Civic or what not, and then little Johnny just tears the **** out of it because he didn't earn it, he was given it, he doesn't know the work that went into getting it. Everyone made fun of me for driving something so old and ugly, but that what I could afford and I was proud of it becaue I bought it, the insurance, gas, repairs, (and previous to getting my licence, all my tests and classes) myself. I was one of three student out of school of 2500 students to buy thier own car, Let alone about 500 them drove, but still. I think just the work I had to do in order to earn enough to buy the can and everything needed for it to operate half prepaired me to drive. I was more cautious because I knew the work I had to do to achieve where I was. I think that if parents were to stop letting little Johnny ride on thier insurance policy, drive thier cars, or buy little Johnny his onw car, teens would become better drivers because they know what was needed to get to the point to drive on thier own.Why don't they make 3 wheelers anymore?

This is a very good question, and because of the uber-aggressive nature of the typical undereducated driver (and they are EVERYWHERE!), teens arent experienced or mature enough to have a restriction free drivers license at 16 anymore. it aint like when i learned back when the mid 80s had SO MANY FEWER cars.Can you give a little insight?
I say we keep it simple. ALL age related items should be 21. That includes voting and serving in the military as well as owning a gun, driving, buying alcohol and cigarettes and anything else you could apply in this category.
Insurers consider males up to age 27 to be high risk. I propose that, in the interest of equality, male and female be 27 before they can hold an unrestricted license.

Yes...I am speaking as a teen myself. I agree with most of you that the driving age should be rasied due to immaturity. But I think that instead of the age to be a determining factor at getting you license, the DMV should look at the teens past and maturity. Would it be fair to all teens for the age to get raised because of a few bad apples??
