Crew cab trucks and baby riding in back?

Question:
we have a 1986 ford ranger extended cab that has seats in the back, this is only our vehicle so we have to drive it. right now were all cramming in the front and it's really hard to shift when were all up front.
my question is is it safe to put the baby in the back seat?

Answers:

Why have fog lights?

If they are regular seats, yes. If it is jumpseat, no, they are not safe for anybody and there is no way to secure a childseat to them.

why does the german motorway (autobahns) have no speed limit?

In California it is the law for a baby to be in the back seat in a carseat.

Driving statistics?

Do you have an approved baby seat that can be properly mounted? If the answer is yes, then that is where the baby should be. Mind you, the baby should not be in the front either without an approved baby seat.
