Split speed limts?

Question:
how do you feel about split speed limits ? cars 70mph semi trucks 55mph

Answers:

If you are standing in the street, how does a car driver know if the car will hit you, brush you or miss you?

As a truck driver, I see problems all the time in states with split speed limits. You have little cars doing 80mph+ darting in and out around the trucks who are just going 55 or 60mph. It can and has caused some very serious accidents.

Should the driving age be lowered to 14? Why or Why not?

I have talked to state patrolmen in Michigan who refuse to enforce the truck speed limit because they are tired of pulling dead bodies out from under trucks (their words, not mine).

can i drive u-haul with a class c?

Studies, including one done by AAA, show that 75% of car/truck accidents are caused by the driver of the car. Other studies show that the speed differential can cause even more accidents. It is not a good situation.

Is there any OTR TRUCKING COMPANY accept a driver who fail drug test seven years ago.Clean last five year?

I am not saying all this to get the speed limit raised for trucks. If there are highways that require trucks to do only 55, then cars should be required to do the same. I see countless wrecks every year. Many at highway speeds involve fatalities. The split speed limit adds to this. Your lawmakers know this, they have seen the studies. Why they keep mandating split limits is a mystery to me (HELLO, Knoxville and Memphis!). The state of Texas recognized the problem several years ago, and changed their law. They have recently, however, allowed cars, on certain very rural highways, to go 80, while trucks are still restricted to 70.

school bus stops, and kids' safety?

I know that I have been rambling, but I hope I have been able to convince at least a few people that these laws are dangerous. Thank you for listening.

what is the standard length of a parrallel parking space?

Doubt that it would work.

I'm confused on driving a standard?

It sucks and it's dangerous. Here in Calif., they have split speed limits and it causes lots of accidents. 4 wheelers always going around and cutting off trucks. A 70-65 split would be better, but 1 speed for everyone is the safest.

whats the price of a ticket for passing a stop sign in california?

well its safer because of truck haviglonger stopping distances

Driving down the road at night...?

ohio has a split limit. 55 for trucks, 65 for cars. in pa and in ny state, it's 65 for all, and the way i see it, the traffic flows alot better. 4 wheelers need to start remembering that trucks are hauling either a 42, 48 or 52' trailer. they need alot of room to manuver, and they cant stop on a dime.

driving schools can Any one recommend a good instructor that does automatic driving lessons in clacton?

THEY SUCK! All vehicles should be moving at the same speed to avoid accidents and keep the flow of traffic moving

if driving drunk is illegal ? why are there parking lots at bars ?

They suck. It has been proven that traffic flows better and actually is safer for all to be going same speed ....what the problem is, is idiot drivers not paying attention and being impatientthat causes most accidents.. people want to blame big trucks for accidents they are in with cars but around 90% of accidents involving trucks and cars it is the car that caused the problem.

Why is it the curvier road the narrower its made with lots of drop off asphault shoulders for us?

Well, it's been a LONG time since I've seen a big rig going 55, but I DO think they should be restricted to 60 or 65 MAX. A lot of them are routinely going faster than THAT. That's 80,000 POUNDS flying down the freeway, folks.

Is it true that driving while using a cell phone is more dangerous than drunk driving?

It sucks. I would like to see the 5 "communist" states(CA, OR, IL, OH, & MI) equalize the speed limit because split speed limits are more dangerous to the 4 wheelers. They come up on a semi doing speed limit & have to do emergency maneuvers or brake hard to prevent an accident from occurring. Sadly, most of the states that try to equalize the speed limits are shot down because ignorant legislators from larger cities dictate what goes on in the rural areas.

in Texas, if the towing vehicle's lights are clearly visible, does a small trailer have to have lights?

Most highway patrols in the split speed limit states permit what is called low level speeding. They don't look at the semi doing between 60-65mph as long as they keep in the right hand lane, let 4 wheelers pass in the left lane, & stay with the flow of traffic without having to make a lot of lane changes, Unfortunately, if an officer has a bad day or they notice something wrong, that driver is toast.
