it works only when the traffic light is on "idle" mode.. for example at 3 am.. the traffic lights stays more time on "green" for the main and larger street in any intersection... therefore the pedestrian cross for that main street stays red most of the time.. the only way (for the ped. cross walk) to become green right away is to press the button.. and it works for me all the time..

however during the day time where the traffic lights works on an almost fixed timing manner.. pressing the button will have less effect on RAPIDING ur time to cross.. but it is important to press it however so tthat system knows that there is some ones wants to cross..
