You could, but most likely not. If you have really sensitive skin maybe. But I get gas on me all the time. When I'm working on vehicles or even just putting gas in the lawn mower, but it I have never had a problem because of it. Maybe the fact that my hands really smelled like fuel but thats it. It will break down the oil on your skin and dry your skin out until you wash up. even then you will see some dryness. gas was often used as a solvent in some shops but do to how flamable it is they quit using it. it breaks down just about any type of grease and oil do to the detergents in it to help clean the motor and fuel systems.Whats your opinion on cell phones causing accidents?

Gas on your hands: Wash off with warm soapy water. It's not a big deal unless you've got sensitive skin.What is the purpose of the "bright" lights on a car?
Gas on your clothes: Be careful about tossing them in a washer or dryer. I'd either hand wash them or take them to a dry cleaner's. It's pretty risky sticking flammable clothing into machines...
