Question:
I'm doing a lot of landscaping this summer and I need a truck. I want something that I can carry a yard of gravel in. I don't want to be overloaded or even maxed out to capacity for safety's sake.

A yard of gravel weighs close to one ton,2000 lbs. That's a lot of weight. It would kill a 1/2 ton trucks suspension just loading it,then it would put a serious strain on the transmission and rear end trying to drive off with it.
With a 3/4 ton truck, the suspension would handle the load better, but generally ,neither the motor, nor the trans. is any more superior than those in the 1/2 ton truck,( i'm assuming we're comparing V-8s).
If I were going to haul a ton of anything on an every day basis, I would appreciate the power and suspension of the 1-ton truck,...heavier suspension, stronger motor, tranny, and rear-end.
Down side of 1-ton; drinks gas,you might wanna go with a diesel. Truck itself, obviously, costs more to buy than lesser two.
You could still take a 3/4-ton and add one leafspring to each side, and it would bring you to the same suspension as that of a full-ton truck. I did that to '96, 3/4 ton F-250.It was a good move, as I routinely had at least 1000 lbs. of cargo onboard at any given time ,and usually was pulling A trailer that held another 2-3 and a 1/2 tons of weight.
This truck had a 351 c.i. motor, and a 5-speed,manual transmission.
Can any one tell me if it is legal to park on the chevron lines marked out on a road?
1/2 ton = 1000 lbs. / 3/4 = 1500 lbs. / 1 ton = 2000 lbs.they can legally only carry what they are rated for after that dot can charge you for over weight , the 1 ton will do the job for you , and most dot people will not bother you unless you driving on a big high way with an over loaded veh.
What is the Weight Requirement for a passenger to sit in a seat with an Airbag?
they r called what they carry.1/2 =1000lb..ect. i carry 2000 lbs and more with my 1/2 ton S 10 V6 auto 4x4...make sure tires have enough air...drive slow.1 yard of gravel plus all your other gear. Sounds like 1 ton, and diesel is your friend.
Child Car Seat Regulations in UK?
Partly because diesel can run biodiesel, which hedges you on fuel prices. Biodiesel doesn't have E85's problems, it can run in any diesel, gives the same fuel economy as diesel, and far better lubricity, so better for the engine. 100% biodiesel is even non-toxic. Though you're more likely to see 5%-20% biodiesel, unless fuel prices go up a lot.
How do I get a job as a Crash Test Dummy?
In Europe they use 5% biodiesel to replace the lubricity of sulfur, which was illegal in their fuels and is becoming illegal here.
