Learner driver!?

Question:
Can all you experienced drivers please explain to me why do you keep you distance from a driving school learners vehicle but not from a vehicle that has just the L plates on? Im learning to drive and im using a fully qualified instructors car and also doing extra practise in my boyfriends car. Ive noticed that most drivers keep a fair distance behind when im in my instructors car but not when im in my boyfriends car. WHY?

Answers:

Q03 Could this happen in an organisation producing safety-critical software ?

I'm a new driver. Recently passed, and no offence to learner drivers but the reason why experienced drivers keep back from learner cars is because they fear learner drivers in an instructor car to be unpredictable, for instance, learner drivers do, in general stall more often, i used to do it all the time when i was learning. The reason why they leave less of a distance when youre in an 'l' plated vehicle is because they assume that youre driving your parents (or in your case, your boyfriend's) car, and that youre driving it because you've gained the experience from driving lessons to be responsible enough to drive a non instructor vehicle. They see you as a more confident and experienced driver, and probably don't even consider the extra pressure they put on you by driving closer. If any of that makes sense.

What does the acronym SMOG stand for in driving schools and in the DMV?

I had this experience too when I was a learner 4 years ago. I think its because alot of the time "L" plates on a private car don't always signify a learner is actually driving it, but an instructors car does especially if there are two occupants in it

Why do people find it so difficult to stick to the rules of the road?

because people fear that a person learning to drive will change lanes or brake too fast causing an accident, i had the same problem when i was learning to drive and i do the same thing now since i don' t have money to fix my 20 year old car if it gets wrecked.

Should the speed limit be raised in California?

we're scared of learning drivers!!! kids that have to take from instructors are usually the worst, and it's the most obvious that those drivers are just starting to learn.

what is the driving age is it 15.5 or 16 i am not too sure?

I'm assuming the L in "L Plates" means license.

RTA reports?

People stay away from cars clearly marked as driving school cars because they'd rather not have a big dent - or worse - in their car. Generally, people that are taking driving lessons aren't good drivers, which means there's a higher chance they'll screw up and hit you. Make sense?

“You are driving on a clear night. There is a steady stream of oncoming traffic. The national speed limit?

I think it maybe cause they think you may not be a learner driver after all , just someone who hasn't bothered to take the L plates off.
I know it sounds daft , but if your in a driving instructors car then they can see your being taught.
Usu alley, an experienced driver can tell if the car in front is a novice or thou some of the driving you see today is ridiculous.
