Information regarding airbags?

Question:
airbags safety

Answers:

Singing while driving?

Airbags are safe for the most part. They do save lives concerning accidents. However for them to work properly you must wear seat belt restraints. During a collision the seat belt helps keep the body confined. The air bag keeps you from hitting the windshield. If you don't use a seat belt, you could possibly move out of position and be injured with an air bag as well as injuries from the collision. Children should not be up front unless the passenger air bag can be turned off. They are to short in height, and the air bag could injure them even with a seat belt on. This applies to short adults as well.

Despite what you will hear and read there is no conclusive evidence that airbags actually save lives. Airbags or more properly, SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) was forced on our vehicles due to the fact so many Americans refused to buckle-up. Rather than risk not being re-elected by enacting mandatory seatbelt laws in the seventies our brainiac politicians deemed the then experimental airbags to be the only answer that would slow the death toll on our highways. Airbags were REQUIRED by the fed. government to deploy with enough force to prevent an UNBUCKLED passenger from hitting the steering wheel, dash or windsheild in a frontal collision. So now we are stuck with explosive devices with the power of a small shotgun blast aimed at our faces while we drive --- AND mandatory seatbelt laws to boot. The seatbelts are the devices that are saving lives in the vast majority of vehicle crashes, not the airbags. Almost 100% of vehicle deaths associated with frontal collisions are caused from head trauma. Would'nt it have been simpler just to require all passengers to wear saftey helmets?
