Why do people feel the need to have their fog lights on when it's just dark out and there's no fog?

Question:
It's come to that time of year again when anyone who has front fogs feels that they need to have these permanently on when they've got their headlights on... WHY? It's so annoying and it can be blinding when you've got two sets of light beaming into your review mirror at the same time.

what is this?

If there's anyone out there who does this, please have a heart and turn them off until it's foggy. Just because you've got them doesn't mean you have to use them all the time!

Fear of Driving?

Firstly lets get the right light recognised. Yellow lights at the front of vehicle are front fog lights, some countries like france actually have in law yellow lights to the front of all vehicles.
White lights usually below the front bumper are driving lights and can be illegal to use unless they switch on when going to Full beam then switch off when useing dipped beam.
Red lights to the rear of a vehicle and usually very bright are rear fog lights and should only be used when the visiability is 100 meters or less. To use them at any other time is illegal and a fixed penalty ticket can be issued by the police for £30 for EACH light that is illuminated at the time.
The other problem is if there are used inappropriately the driver behind cannot see the brake lights of that vehicle and could hit them, a count may/will summons the user of the rear red fog light as driving with out due care and attention with probably a heavy fine and 6/9 point or if the accident is bad enough a ban, your insurance will also rise accordingly. So to all that think its clever or street wise to use the lights because it looks good are one think and two should not have a licence in the first place. Anyone caught behind one of these "people" drive with your headlights on FULL beam this normally has a positive effect upon the stupid driver.

The fog lights help illuminate the road where the headlights do not reach, such as the sides. Fog lights are aimed lower than headlights so they should not be blinding you.

In the UK it's actually ILLEGAL to have your fog lights on UNLESS it's foggy. People that have them on are just a bit dumb really, they don't need them. The worst one I saw was at around 2pm on a sunny afternoon, a driver had on their sidelights (when there was no need!) AND fog lights(!).

how and what would i need for a voice recorded loop for cb?

some are actually driving lamps not fog lamps, although they do the same job lighting up more of the road directly in front of your vehicle. they should not come beaming into your rear view mirror unless they are positioned incorrectly, but then that's why most car mirrors have an anti glare switch on them, maybe you should put the lipstick down and twist the knob if your getting blinded.

Point well raised and it's actually illegal to have fog lights on when there is no fog, no doubt they are the same idiots who come up behind you with full beam on or forget to dip when approaching you

The car stalled when the wheel was turned all the way to the right. Common?

If it is in a dark area and there is no oncoming traffic then let them use fog lights. Fog lights are as distracting and dangerous as high beams. in areas with traffic. I guess some people think they're cool if they have them on or they don't know how to turn the darn things off. They are great in the fog as they light up the lower part of the road otherwise keep them off.
