Why are car seats considered outdated after 3 years?

Do you know how to drive in snow? In my 4 cylinder, two wheel drive toyota with bald tires I have passed SUV's with chains on in the ditch. Some highway passes require traction devices in winter (snow tires at least), others require chains. Check with the states DOT.

i know that it is bad to drink and drive i just wanted to know if you did?

The law in Calif. is that when it is snowing, all vehicles must carry chains.
Including 4WD and AWD.

However, the only time you need to use chains with 4WD or AWD is when Caltrans issues R3 chain conditions, which is extremely rare.

Does anyone like idiots that sit in the middle lane on motorways and refuse to move over?

95% of the time when chain controls are imposed, R1 and R2 controls are issued. In that case, all you need is a good set of snow tires (MS, M/S, M+S) rated tires with at least 6/32" of remaining tread thickness (about 50% of the original tire tread.)

Make sure your cooling system, heater & defroster is checked and in excellent condition with 50:50 mix of antifreeze & water, new windshield wipers and winter-formula windshield fluid and a ice scraper/brush. It's also good to have a bag of sand for extra traction, gloves, a rainslicker, small tarp, towel and perhaps a folding shovel. I also like to apply Rain-X on the windshield to keep the glass clear. And clean the inside of windows as well.

Have fun, and drive with extra patience and caution in the snow/rain/ice. Drive with your lights on in inclement weather so other drivers see you first. There are way too many jerks who think they know how to drive a 4x4 in the snow, but end up flipped over in a ditch.
