The best way would be to pull over and take a 10-20 minute nap, it will make you feel refreshed and more alert. Or take along a friend and take shifts driving. If this is not possible, drink something caffeinated (coffee, Mtn.dew etc.), chew gum, blast the radio and the air-conditioner. If all this fails, they do make a caffeine pill called "No Doze" that might help a bit. Please try the nap first, if at all possible. You have to think of safety first, for others as well as yourself. It is better to arrive a few minutes late, than to never arrive at all.

I drove “big rigs” for about 6 years. On a long trip returning home late at night I started to fall asleep behind the wheel. I want to tell you that this was a terrifying experience. As soon as I could I pulled the truck over to the side of the road and laid down and tried to get some sleep. I didn’t sleep real well but I slept on and off for about 1 hour. Drinking those high energy drinks will only cause long term effects such as heart problems etc. Same with too much caffeine. Pull over, have a 20 minute down time, get a device that goes behind your ear that beeps when your head tilts forward, never drive when you are tired. My brother was a long haul truck driver, too bad he never made it home.
