Question:
My boyfriend and I take a lot of road trips, and I always lean back in the seat. I always wonder if we get into an accident, if the airbags or seatbelt will function properly if I am not seated upright.
Why's it so hard to take advice that you KNOW is correct?
We were in a bad accident before and I was seated upright and the airbags deployed and other than some bruising I was fine, but I have had friends who had cracked ribs and had to go to the hospital.

Plane vs car safety question.?
No in fact they become deadly when ever you are out of position and they are called into use.You judge your risk and take appropriate steps. I feel pretty safe sleeping on the interstate with my seat reclined but do not do it in town or bad weather.
I mean safety is nice but you have to live to.
You and your friends injuries are consistant with pretty hard impacts. They only keep you from die-ing and will inflict injuries while doing that. I am certain that an airbag deployment will probably break my nose. Why? Because I wear Glasses. Airbags without seatbelts are worse than no airbag in the fact they can kill you by themselves.
Sorry to be gloom and doom , but driving is inherently dangerous and always has been. best defense is to be alert!
If a pre 1983 car is fitted with seat belts does driver have to wear them under current rules?
read your manual.to function properly you must be in the normal sitting postiion...as for your friend who was hurt..at least they aren't dead..small price to pay to keep living..Where do i find a device to put on teens car that tells how he is driving car?
Absolutely not. You're supposed to sit upright so if loverboy hits something head on, you don't submarine under (slide under) the seat belt, and the air bag is supposed to hit you square in the chest and face so you don't go through the dash on your way through the windshield. Air bags and seat belts are no guarantee of an injury-free wreck, but they will protect you from much more serious injury and being tossed out of the car.More Questions & Answers ...
