Question:
Increasing the road tax for gas guzzling cars is hardly a solution for changing the global warming. It would seem it is only another tax on the motorist . Surely road tax is meant to ensure people have the right to drive , its a double whammy.
Answers:
Can i have a car towed if i am blocked in?
But at least it might make those stupid mothers on the school run think twice about driving one mile in the range rover to drop little peter off at school.I think its a good idea. it would atleast make some percentage of people not buy one of those gas guzzling cars.. on the other hand in USA if you buy a hybrid car, the price of the car is excempt from the yearly tax you pay... isnt that cool... basically they are trying to say to the people that we care. Think positive dude. :)
If you could choose a speed limit for driving cars, what would it be?
No not in woonsocket at least i don't think they're should you travel to woonsocket i know when you know the bad things happened where every place that you go to and don't worry alright and no tax is not increasing until summer in woonsocket.. okayWhen it comes to "LAW" (concerning auto accidents), what does depraved indifference mean?
cause he wants more moneyWhy polce office don't give u a ticket in a car accident when no one was injured?
I'm glad they've taxed these cars - the only problem is the majority of the people that can afford these huge pointless cars can afford to pay an extra £300 or whatever it was. Tarquin and Olivia will still get dropped off at their private school whilst mummy rushes off to eat lentils and do pilates.Safe and cool cars 4 16 year olds?
road tax is partly used for updating and renovating are roads and because 4x4 are heavy and large they tear up the road surface so why shouldn't the owners pay more,if they can afford to buy one they can afford the extra road charges. The point is that he will be able to make loads of extra money to waste on things which most people in the country seem to disagree with.
He will be able to claim that (he personally) has made the economy stronger than ever whilst at the same time crippling the NHS and pricing most hard working people completely out of the housing market; forcing them into council owned accommodation which they have to pay the government for.
Through this money he will be able to claim that (he personally) has made the economy stronger than ever whilst ..

What do you mean whats the point? Have you not realised the government are always penalising us motorist for one thing or another because they can all claim essential car user allowances so they don't give a **** about us.Peace
Bummer - I've always fancied myself driving a 4X4!! I'm sure this is only the beginning of Gordon Brown's new vocabulary - "green taxes" ...
How do I go about disabling a garage door openers safety sensors?
Its a good idea, most 4x4s never go off the tarmac so what is the purpose of themA lot of these so called 4x4s are two wheel drive with the option of 4 wheel drive if you go off road "which very few people do" .
I notice that John 2 jags Prescot is still being driven around in big government owned cars , when are they going to set an example and start using mini cars? it one rule for them and another rule for us !

"Road tax is meant to ensure people have the right to drive!" ?!?!?You are a self absorbed idiot. Driving is a privilege, not a right.
Can i get a class A CDL with a DUI on my driving record?
Who is Gordan Brown for a start and how is he going to increase tax on 4x4s with his name spelt wrong? What things should i check in my car before taking a long trip?
Driving is an incredibly antisocial activity that pollutes our environment. Standing on or walking along a pavement next to a running car is very comparable to standing opposite someone in a pub who is smoking a cigarette. Couple this with the fact that most people seem to inherit a somewhat reduced intelligence when placed behind the wheel of a car and you start to have some answer to your question. By taxing the motorist in this way the chancellor kills two birds with one stone. He gains popularity with non-4x4 drivers and environmental groups as he is seen to step up pressure on those with no respect for the environment. At the same time he increases the governments income in an effort to cover the increasing spending deficit that has sent Labour governments of the past bust. The evident stupidity of the average motorist almost guarantees him that people will pay the tax regardless of the obvious incentive. I think though that was the point you were trying to make. That as far as the people of this country are concerned, it doesn't really benefit anyone or anything.
What is the safety rating on a 2007 toyota rav-4?
In addition might I say that I think the naivety I have just pointed out in your question perhaps demonstrates an angle where this government can make a real difference? If they could perhaps educate people to better understand the implications of motoring then motorists might make the environmentally beneficial choices without tax incentives. This would perhaps better retain everyone's right to own and drive a car whilst at the same time reducing the impact it has on the environment. Another idea would be to invest the money gained form the tax in research and development of affordable technology that makes motor vehicles less polluting. Given the governments record of investment in the NHS though I would probably err against this approach!
Why do people sit in the middle lane!?
Perhaps, along the lines of today's budget, the Chancellor should also consider a similar tax based around the spelling of his name. Not that you would approve of that one mind you!
Will everyone please look both ways before they cross the street?
THERE IS NO POINT! OUR GOVERNMENT IS GREEDY THATS ALL! MR BROWN SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON GETTING THIS COUNTRY OUT OF EVERY ONE ELSES WARS AND OUT OF THE CRAP THAT MR BLAIR HAS GOT US INTO!! OBVIOUSLY USING ALL THESE WEAPONS FOR THE WARS IN IRAQ AND AFGANISTAN ARENT DAMAGING THE ENVIRONMENT ARE THEY??? WHOES THE DUMBASS THEN EH WHOS CAUSING THE MOST PROBLEMS THEN? THAT WOULD BE YOU LOT SIR!Can a car crash kill you at 20 mph?
What are they going to do with the extra money for so called "green tax"Hi
the age old argument if your car does less per gallon you all ready pay more tax surely a better way forward would be that over a certain amount of mileage you pay a different tax
Road tax is apparently to pay for improvements to and new roads but one can cells the other
How do u know wat a mile is when u r driving?
the tax increase is not sole about 4x4's but heavy polluting cars.old v8 yanks and 4.2 litre 80's jags will be hit to,it is mainly to encourage manufactures to build cars that are less polluting and more environmentally friendly,i agree that it is not fair on all 4x4's because some are adapted to take L.P.G. but the older diesel type 4x4's will more likely be hit more because they have less filtering of co2 than newer 4x4's.so if you own an old 3litre Capri, watch out for the emissions test on the m.o.t.,it may be expensive to tax.More Questions & Answers ...
