Accelerate to your desired speed. Press ON button, then SET. the Cruise control should maintain your desired speed. If you wish to temporarily take control of the vehicle, just tap the brake pedal. This will give you complete control of the vehicle. Once you want to get back to your original speed, just press RES (resume) and that should bring your vehicle back to your original set speed. Let's assume that you have the cruise set a 65 MPH and wish to reduce it to 60 mph. You press the COAST button, and hold it until the car slows to 60 MPH. You then release the button, and car should remain at 60. Another feature, on most vehicles, is on the RES button. If, while the cruise control is activated, you press the RES button, the car will accelerate a few MPH...anywhere from 2 to 5 MPH, and stay there. This can be used for fine tuning your speed, without having to start from scratch every time. Hope this helps.

res means resume, coast is essentially to slow down.
there should be on/off or I/0 to turn the system on. once on, set is to set the speed, if you hit the brakes the system cancels cruise. the gas pedal isn't used.

To set the cruise control you need to accelerate to the speed you want to be at. Turn the cruise control on with the On button and then push Set or Set Accel to keep that speed. Coast temporarily stops the crusie control and Res reumes the cruise control where you left off (in case you have to stop). Cancel stops the cruising speed totally and lets you regain control.
