I'd like to contract with AAA, any Insurance Company that offers the service or even a Cell Phone Provider that offers this service.
The idea is NOT TO TOW...just provide a "quick response" to fuel delivery, changing tires, jump starts, etc.

It's possible to get into it just using a service truck, but difficult. AAA probably won't even talk to you though. The cell phones all go through Asurion Roadside Services, one of the (my opinion) worst there is.Should pedestrians be made to wear helmets? (UK)?
If you're going to get into this, with roadside providers, be aware they will take at least 30 days to pay you, and will often under pay. Your phone will ring in the middle of the night often wanting to know if you will go way outside your service area. If you do, they won't want to pay you for the miles you traveled, and if the person is gone the GOA pay is either very tiny or non existent.

I've dropped most of the providers because of the way they do things. And please avoid the ones that, for a slight fee, will give you an 'exclusive area'. They are scams for the most part. In fact the nation wide 1-800-towtruck has quietly vanished from the scene.

Without a tow truck you will not get a lot of business. Often it's "Jump start, possible tow" where you find the alternator is gone and the vehicle won't keep running. Of "Tire change, good spare" but really the locking lug nuts won't allow you to change the tire and they have lost the key. The cell phone companies will only cover the first $50, and it's up to you to try to collect anything over that from a hostile customer who wasn't told this and thinks it should be free because he pays the $3 a month to his cell phone provider.

The absolute worst are the gas deliveries. Most of the providers pay a flat rate and demand 10 free miles to the scene, and won't pay for the fuel. They only allow 3 gallons. The customer, on the other hand, is sitting at the gas pump waiting for you to show up and fill up his car, because he was told "I'm covered up to $50, and I need a credit for the rest because it won't take $50 worth this time." If you pour the gas out of your can, and there is anything wrong with his car after that, you brought him 'bad gas' and he complains to the provider, who sides with him.

Same thing with jump starts. The battery was fine before you jumped it, now it won't take a charge.

Add to that the license and insurance you will have to have to be a provider, and believe me, it just isn't worth it.
