Nottingham as a lot of average speed cameras. These are normally on overhead blue painted, very pretty lamp-post type poles. I should think any lines after them is just coincidence. Youv'e had it if you have been speeding!!How come my house has wheels under it but we can't haul it down the road?
The Little cameras are there to charge you a BIG amount of money as you speed past them. More often then not, a third party COMPANY installs, maintains, mails(posts)citations and collects the money generated by their "Safety" cameras. Your town gets a cut of the money collected. Isn't technology wonderful?Whats the maximum number of hours an employee can drive in a company vehicle?
the lines have a double function as said above they are time distance measurement to calculate your speed also the lines on the road on the wrong side of the camera are there so that either the camera can be reversed or a second came rs install for traffic heading in opposite direction. The second function is to act as a deterrent where by you see the lines think CAMERA and slow down . This tactic is often used on motorways and the like particularly in lancashire !!

Sorry you are getting some conflicting information here I will try to clarify. The cameras on blue lampposts are NOT speed cameras just there for monitoring. The cameras with the lines in the road are speed cameras, your speed is calculated by two pictures the lines in the road are there to verify your speed, if you think the camera is wrong you can use the lines to work out your own speed, there have been quite a few kicked out lately because the camera was wrong.
