Why is it our children?

Question:
dosent have seat belts for thier protection when riding the school bus to and from school? there isnt even seat belts if they wanted to wear them, but you notice the driver has one? and the law requires all passengers in a passenger vehicle to wear one. why can the school bus system get away with it? thanks for the answers.

where should children sit under the age of five in a car?

I answered this for someone else earlier. Student seats on school buses are built tall and close together to "compartmentalize" the kids. If seat belts were to be installed, they would have to be lap-only due to construction of the bus. Injuries are multiplied on small bodies by this restraint system. Also, look at a bus next time you get close to one. The floor of the bus is much higher than the hood of the average passenger vehicle on the road. Most of the force in a collision would go to the bus frame, not the passenger compartment. Look up all the studies done on this subject and the kids are over-wnelmingly safer on a school bus than any other form of transportation, even without the belts.

lpg cars petrol?

I don't know why it,s been that way but where I live they are changing the rules now to require kids to be belted in.I suppose they figured they couldn't get them to do it without a big hassle.

how many 16 -24 year old s are killed each year on the roads in the uk?

Apparently, there is some study that shows school buses are safer without the seatbelts. I do remember riding a school bus that had a seatbelt for a handicapped kid who rode the bus. So it's not like they CAN'T install them!

what should i do when i drive ,over drive on or off?what burn more gas?please help me out?

I think the issue has been addressed once. I'm not sure if it will be further considered. I agree that it should be made a priority.

How do I get certified to teach school bus driving in PA?

Driver has seatbelt because it is a federal law for a commercial driver to be belted. If involved in an accident, belt law is not for the driver's protection, but rather a big bus involved in an accident can likely still be piloted to avoid a big disaster IF the driver is still in the seat. If force of initial accident means driver is under dashboard, nobody is piloting the ship.

Rear view visibility for tractor operators at the seat(without having to turn the head back)?

Vehicles must be made for seatbelts. If protection around vehicle is not strong enough, better to be thrown around than strapped in (one reason motorcycles don't have seatbelts). Now that busses have stronger bodies/roofs, the question of belts could be revisited, but the main reason I have heard promoting them is so kids stay in habit of using them, not for protection when riding bus.
