We are considering towing a jeep with a hitch on the rv and have seen a few (very few) others doing the same or towing an rv and boat. We have been advised that it is not legal to tow multiple vehicles at a time in all states. How do I find out more.

In Michigan you can pull 2 trailers, but only if the first has a 5th wheel hitch, a frame mounted hitch for the 2nd towed unit (no clamp-ons) and has brakes.No towed vehicles with trailers behind them allowed (might be an exception for wreckers, I don't know...)
You will also need an endorsement on your licence for 'recreational doubles' unless of course you have a CDL w/doubles endorsement.

Florida...only one tow vehicle.'tripple tow' as it is called, is legal in OH, KY and TN, however, it is not in AL. as long as it does not exceed 65foot total length.
dont hold me to this, check and make sure. i looked into it, when iw as going to move, pulling my boat behind a 38foot raptor with as dodge ram 3500. the other states, i dont know, i believe it is legal in GA too. but each state has its own regulations as to length, etc.
