Question:
These are my tread depths: 4/32, 5/32, 6/32, 8/32.
I guess I need an alignment or rotation? The question is, can I make it on a 1200 mile trip with these tires. I'm going to trade the car in and don't want to spend money on new tires.
Answers:
I wouldn't chance it and you can probably buy re-treads really cheap and if you're that concerned just take em off and put the old ones back on before you trade and sell the new tires on e-bay or something or the penny-saver it'll work.
yes but your spare better be in good shape
I think the short answer is yes.
Should you pick up hitchhikers?
Unless the wheels are visually out of alignment and making squealing noises in a straight line, it would take some doing to rip that amount of rubber off in only 1,200 miles.
I really do not see a problem as your smallest tread depth (at 4/32 or 1/8 inch) is twice the absolute bare minimum (1/16 of an inch.)
Car accident-Whose fault in Massachssettes?
The easiest way to see if you need new tires is to use an American 'Lincoln' penny. Turn the penny so Lincoln is upside down, and put it on edge in the bottom of the tread. If, when you look across the top of the tire, you can see the top of Lincoln's head, it is time to buy new tires.
What is better drive slowly or fast at an accident prone area?
These tires are very nearly bald. If you need to drive on wet pavement you will have little or no traction. Put tires on the car even if you're going to trade it. It's not worth your life to drive on bald tires.More Questions & Answers ...
