Can anyone tell me about the steps to getting a tanker and hazmat endorsement(s)? Is it difficult? How much does it usually cost? Do I need to go to school for this? Or is it just a written test for each one? Can you haul gas without being hazmat certified?

You need to get a study book from your DMV. You will have to be finger printed, a background check will be done at your expense through your state, take a written test and if you pass you will have haz-mat endorsement. Then you will need a written test for tanker endorsement. I'm guessing the cost will be, $90.00 for background, and maybe $40 for endorsements. Each state is different.
And no, you can not haul gas in a tanker without it.
