Where are they finding parts for their cars....?

Question:
..a report I just read says Cubans are driving cars they owned
before the Castros took over,,,,1959 models and older...the rest of people ride worn out bus transport or hitch hike to and
from where they want to go.(IF THE STATE LETS THEM GO AT ALL.and that's their business if they will let some old dried up cronie rule them like that.), but how they keep those cars going for so long....that's a wonderment!

Answers:

What are good/best tips when driving in some wacky weather?

yes , desperation = inventiveness , plus we here in Canada have never restricted our travel or trade to Cuba , so lots of tourists take school supplies and tune up parts with them , it was way easier to do pre. 911

Highway safety&traffie bareacare?

They scavenge parts from wherever they can. I remember seeing a documentary showing an old American car with a Soviet engine in it.

Who got a cellphone ban while driving in their city?

A lot of those parts are hand made, rather than purchased. I read about ONE guy that makes piston rings by cutting small sections off a piece of steel pipe of the correct diameter.
