Question:
I have a step-daughter who is nearly 3 years old, my fella drives a convertable car and thinks that it is ok to drive with the roof down when the weather gets better and his daughter is in the car. I disagree due to polution, the sun and because she is so young.
What do you think?
Answers:
Why don't we regulate the glare that's reflected from cars?
She's at no more risk from pollution and the sun than if walking down the street. The inside of a car is generally not totally sealed from outside, so the amount of pollution in the car will not change much roof up or down.
Sunscreen and/or a sun hat will protect her from the sun.
Should old folks have their driver's license taken from them?
Over-protecting children can cause harm too.
It ill-prepares them for later life, and can lead to health problems if their immune system is not given the chance to develop properly.
Everything in moderation, unless very dangerous, is a better policy.
How old does your child have to be to be able to be in the front seat with an airbag?
if you not drive fast can be ok for kidsWhat is the legal age to drive in california rightn now?
A general drive around should not be a problem, but over a long distance i would suggest the roof be up.
Why are you not supposed to get back in your car when pumping gas?
she should be fine just put suncream on her and make sure she has her seatbelt on.A sun hat wouldn't be bad idea too. I agree over protecting kids is not good. But keeping them safe from UV rays is.
I got my fingers shut in the convertible top of my mother's 65 Olds Cutlass when I was a kid. It learned me not to stick my fingers where they shouldn't be! Even then I had a high tolerance for pain so I just whined a bit and mom told me to stop whining, a few minutes went by and she looked back and saw. She was like why didn't you say something! So tell her to keep her fingers to herself when the roof is closing.
What is the legal minimum width of a turning circle/area on a UK road?
so the air in your car is clean ? bull the air in your car with the blower on is just as bad as the air out side.the only comment i have on the open top car front is that the risk of stuff hitting the child while the car is in motion is much higher. but the kids love it. they also love trikes and motorcycles which are both better uses of road space then open topped cars. Some dog sit on a front seat in a car they dont do seat belt does they got tickets?
I assume that you`re children are all pasty white and have never seen the sun in thier lives i feel sorry for them. sun screen works at 30 miles per hour.
Stick Shift/Manual Transmission Question.driving during traffic?

Electrical safety at home slogan?
i have a convertible and my kids love to go for a ride in it. its great going for ice cream or to the beach. one thing though you want to think of is there is no roll over protection in a convertible. they don't fair to good in accidents. so i wouldn't run my kids around in this car as a daily driver. even with the top up. its only a thin piece of fabric. if your fella is a responsible driver though make sure the kid is strapped in really good and enjoy a nice ride. can't live in a box forever. good luckPollution? there's just as much with the top up.
Sun? use sunscreen

If I were him, I'd dump you at the nearest truck stop.
put her in a plastic bubble then. she is going to take in pollution everywhere she goes the sun will get her when she is walking so put her cream on first. Stop being an over protective parent they have to get some germs
Why their is parking at bars, when their is DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE rule?
I think that she should be wearing sunscreen and sunglasses with UV protection any time that she's out for extended periods of time. (In other words, not necessarily when driving to school but definately if going on a long drive.) At 2 years old, she should still be in a car seat. After that, a booster seat. As long as those things are met, she should be fine. How do you write "No Parking " & "No Parking This Side" in Spanish?
I have a 3 year old daughter and a convertible. It is left hand drive, so looks like she is driving it when we're out for a drive - only bettered when I have the dog in the passengers seat!
She has shades on, is strapped into her child seat, which I ensure is fitted correctly, and enjoys the sounds and smells of the countryside much more than being cocooned inside a 'normal' car.
Its called experiencing life.
