Question:
There was a wreck outside of our house tonight, and the ambulance left with lights flashing, but no sirens. I have been in an ambulance once, and I was critical, but I don't remember if they ran the sirens or not..I was in too much pain. Can someone tell me?
Answers:
How come I and my son must (by law) be seatbelted in our car and not in his schoolbus?
usually when they do this its not real critical,or the patient has passed on,that's about the only time i have seen them do this also,,i was in one too once, and like you i was hurting so much ,i cant remember, but i live by a ambulance driver, and i work on his vehicle sometimes, this is what i can gather from him on the matter, good luck i hope this help,s.Most likely because the person/people involved in the car wreck did not require medical attention, or the accident was fatal.
maybe the reason you didn't hear the siren was because you were too much in pain.people i pain sometimes get oblivious with their surroundings.that was why maybe you didn't hear it.besides,if it was really an emergency, they would use their siren to alert everybody that it is an emergency.
Can you give a little insight?
the drivers do try to be considerate. if they don't need to run the sirens to get people out of the way & especially if they're in a residential area, the don't. but, who knows what tha particualr driver was doing-maybe he just forgot?!You always see this happen. When ambulances leave an accident they rarely have the siren going unless they are going through an intersection or near traffic. The lights flashing are enough to get peoples attention generally, and they also change the stop lights so they can get through quicker.
What would the ambulance accomplish by keeping his siren on?
how or where do report unlicensed drivers?
some patients cant accept the sound of siren. they feel more stress and torture. and its possible the patient were not seriously injured, and its no need the siren for just a small injury.I asked an ambulance paramedic about this when I was being taken to hospital. He said that the noise of the sirens can upset the patient. This can cause more suffering, as they think they are in a critical condition, and this can make them a lot worse if they very ill..
